Pakistani security forces successfully intercepted and neutralized a drone attack attempted by Fitna-al-Khawarij (FAK) TTP operatives, reportedly supported by the Afghan Taliban, in Kohat earlier today. The Khawarij sought to deploy three rudimentary drones as part of a coordinated assault, but the threat was swiftly detected and neutralized using advanced electronic anti-drone systems, officials confirmed.
The operation highlights the vigilance and preparedness of Pakistan’s security forces in countering evolving Khawarij tactics, including the use of unmanned aerial devices to target civilians or strategic sites.
While the drones were intercepted successfully, falling debris injured two civilians, who have received medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition. Security authorities have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure civilian safety and to mitigate collateral risks during anti-Khawarij operations.
Officials emphasized that the attempted drone deployment reflects a continuing threat from Khawarij factions backed by Afghan Taliban elements, highlighting the transnational nature of modern extremist operations.
Authorities confirmed that ongoing intelligence, surveillance, and operational readiness continue to be a priority to prevent similar attacks in the future. The public has been advised to remain cautious and report any suspicious aerial activity to local security authorities.
This incident underscores the adaptive strategies of Khawarij networks and Pakistan’s proactive counterterrorism posture to safeguard civilians, critical infrastructure, and regional stability.
