A quadcopter-borne explosive struck the residence of relatives of a police peace committee member in the Manjiwala area of Lakki Marwat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, late Saturday, leaving one person dead and another injured while damaging nearby property, according to sources.
The attack occurred when a quadcopter carrying an explosive device targeted the house of relatives associated with the local police-supported peace committee in Manjiwala. The blast killed one individual on the spot and left another wounded. The injured person was immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
The explosion also caused damage to the surrounding structures, including nearby houses and property, sending shockwaves through the locality and triggering panic among residents. Local residents rushed to the scene following the blast, while law enforcement agencies and security personnel arrived shortly afterwards to cordon off the area and initiate an initial assessment of the incident.
Sources indicated that the intended target appeared to be individuals linked to the police peace committee, a community-based body that assists law enforcement agencies in maintaining local security and discouraging militant activity in the area. However, officials have yet to issue a formal statement confirming the identity of the perpetrators or the precise nature of the attack.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine how the quadcopter was deployed and to identify those responsible for the strike. Security personnel were collecting evidence from the site and assessing the scale of the damage, while further details were being gathered.
The incident has intensified concerns among residents in Lakki Marwat district, which in recent months has witnessed a number of security-related incidents amid ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies and local peace committees to maintain stability and counter emerging threats in the region.
