No One Will Be Allowed to Incite Public Against Armed Forces: DG ISPR

Spokesperson of the Pakistan Army, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has warned that a single individual has emerged as a national security threat by relentlessly provoking the public against the armed forces. He said the Pakistan Army will respond firmly to any attack verbal or otherwise aimed at undermining the institution and will not allow anyone to incite hostility between the people and the military.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said: “One individual believes that if he is not in power, nothing else should exist. His narrative has become a direct threat to national security. A mentally disturbed person is sitting here and attacking the Pakistan Army. If anyone targets the armed forces for personal politics, we will respond decisively.”

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also announced the formal launch of the headquarters of the Chief of Defence Forces, calling it a historic milestone. “Dozens of countries across the world have a Chief of Defence Forces structure. We congratulate the nation and the armed forces on this significant development,” he stated.

He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army represents no region, language, sect or political ideology. “We do not advance any political personality or the agenda of any elite group. We sacrifice daily for Pakistan and its people,” he added.

The DG ISPR stressed that no political actor will be allowed to drag the armed forces into partisan conflicts. “Conduct your politics separately. Do not attempt to pull the Army into your political battles. No one will be permitted to create a divide between the armed forces and the people of Pakistan.”

He questioned whether the individual at the centre of this controversy is deliberately attempting to create space for foreign militaries. “Is this person trying to open the way for another country’s forces? The agenda is clear—and it will not succeed.”

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that after this individual’s meetings in prison, a stream of anti-army messaging begins immediately. “He builds narratives asking overseas Pakistanis to stop remittances, then urges the IMF to halt loans to Pakistan. Despite facing a military and an economy eight times larger than ours, the Pakistan Army has stood firm.”

He criticised the political party associated with the individual, noting that even its own members deny responsibility for the anti-army campaign. “Which political tradition permits meetings with a convicted criminal to coordinate such rhetoric? This mentally disturbed person tweets and builds narratives with a clear agenda,” he said.

The DG ISPR revealed a coordinated digital network designed to amplify anti-state narratives. “There is training and consistency behind these tweets. UK-based accounts operate round the clock. All anonymous accounts are operating from outside Pakistan. The core narrative originates from this mentally unstable individual, and the biggest facilitator is Indian media. RAW-linked accounts elevate his messages.”

He said Indian and Afghan social media networks are jointly promoting this campaign. “Look at their influencers where the tweets originate and how the narrative is pushed. Afghan accounts, many linked to Kharijite militants, also participate. A mentally unstable individual is sitting here attacking the Pakistan Army.”

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry described this campaign as collusion. “This is not a free lunch. The plan is simple: we create the narrative here, and you amplify it abroad. India and Afghanistan are being told that their enemy and ours is the same—the Pakistan Army.”

He condemned the individual’s logic, which paints anyone associated with the armed forces as a traitor. “He says those working in ISPR are traitors, and by extension, every soldier and even the students I meet in educational institutions would also be traitors. What message are you giving to the country? Who do you think you are?”

Recalling the events of 9 May, the DG ISPR said: “We saw the consequences of this mindset the attack on GHQ, the burning of martyrs’ memorials. Someone who can order such acts has no difficulty labeling the Army as traitors.”

He concluded by stating that the individual considers himself the sole guardian of truth. “He believes he alone is correct and that democracy only exists when he is in power. If he is not in government, he calls it dictatorship.”
