Pakistan’s security forces carried out 67,023 intelligence-based operations in 2025, eliminating 1,873 militants, including 136 Afghan nationals, reflecting a sustained counterterrorism effort across high-risk regions.
The operations were concentrated in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 53,309 and 12,857 operations were conducted respectively, accounting for nearly 99% of the nationwide total. From 4 to 25 November alone, 4,910 operations were carried out, resulting in 206 militants neutralised.
Border security also remained a critical focus. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the 1,229-kilometre border with Afghanistan, encompassing 20 crossing points, was actively monitored despite challenging terrain and distances of 20–25 kilometres between posts. In Balochistan, policing coverage under the National Action Plan expanded to 27 districts, representing 86% of the province, with authorities maintaining 140 daily and 4,000 monthly community engagement activities.
Parallel to counterterrorism operations, Pakistan facilitated the repatriation of Afghan nationals, sending 971,604 individuals home in 2025, a 165% increase from 2024. November alone accounted for 239,574 returns, roughly one-quarter of the year’s total, highlighting intensified coordination at the border.
These figures illustrate high operational intensity in strategic provinces, effective management of border and community security, and sustained efforts to neutralise cross-border threats. Analysts say the data underscores Pakistan’s combined approach of military, intelligence, and civil coordination in addressing internal and regional security challenges.
