The presence of militants in Afghanistan poses a security threat not only to Pakistan but also to neighbouring countries, as destructive activities continue across the Afghan border into Tajikistan.

According to a statement from Tajikistan’s embassy in Kuwait, despite continuous efforts to maintain peace and security in border areas, attacks originating from Afghan territory persist.

On the night of 26 November, militants launched a quad-copter attack combined with an armed assault on a camp of LLC Shaheen SM in Tajikistan’s border region, in the “Yul” border area of Khatlon, specifically at the “Istiqlol” first guard post. The attack involved grenades and firearms delivered via unpiloted aircraft.

The assault resulted in the deaths of three Chinese employees of LLC Shaheen SM.

The statement emphasised that despite Tajikistan’s ongoing efforts to maintain security and stability along its border with Afghanistan, criminal groups operating inside Afghanistan continue to conduct destructive activities. Tajikistan expressed deep concern over these attacks and strongly condemned them, urging Afghan authorities to take effective measures to ensure stability and security along the border.
