TTP Operative Releases Video from Sensitive French Location, Raising Security Alarms

A terrorist linked to the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has released a video from France, showing himself near a highly sensitive French naval installation. The operative, reportedly affiliated with the Jamaat-ur-Ahrar faction, openly filmed himself near the facility, signalling the group’s ability to operate beyond Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In the footage, he can be seen holding a page on which “Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan” is written in Pashto at the top, then “Jamaat-ul-Ahrar,” and below that “Mahajir Ehasas Khurasani Network,” while asking his fellows not to forget him in their prayers.

Security experts warn the footage underscores a growing transnational threat, highlighting the TTP’s expanding international footprint. Pakistani officials say the incident confirms long-standing concerns about TTP sanctuaries in Afghanistan and the group’s capacity to project terror globally.

The threat is further reinforced by a recent attack near the White House in Washington, D.C., where an Afghan national opened fire on National Guard personnel, critically injuring two officers before being apprehended.
