During the course of “Marka-e-Haq,” Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Shahzaib Rafi demonstrated exceptional professionalism, leadership, and courage while commanding an artillery unit in response to hostile action targeting civilian areas.
According to military sources, in the early hours of May 6–7, when hostile elements reportedly targeted civilian populations, the artillery unit under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Rafi was immediately ordered to respond. He promptly mobilized his unit and initiated a highly coordinated and effective artillery response.
Under his command, the unit executed precise and sustained fire missions that resulted in the destruction of multiple enemy brigade and battalion headquarters, as well as mortar positions. Officials stated that the operation inflicted significant losses on hostile forces and played a decisive role in altering the battlefield dynamics in favor of Pakistani forces.
Military sources credited the timely response and tactical execution of the artillery unit as a key factor contributing to the success of the broader operation during Marka-e-Haq.
Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Shahzaib Rafi reaffirmed the resolve of the armed forces, stating that any future attempt to challenge the sovereignty or resilience of Pakistan would be met with an even stronger and more decisive response.
In recognition of his exemplary leadership, operational excellence, and bravery during combat, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Shahzaib Rafi was awarded the Tamgha-e-Basalat. The award highlights his distinguished service and underscores the professional commitment of the armed forces during critical operational engagements.
