Two civilians were martyred and two others injured when terrorists targeted civilians in the Ping area of Wazir Sub-Division in Bannu, with security forces launching an immediate operation and eliminating one suspected terrorist, police said.

The attack was carried out using a quadcopter, according to police, who said the victims included a woman. The injured were shifted for medical treatment following the attack.

Following the incident, security personnel and police cordoned off the area and launched a search and clearance operation to track down the terrorists involved in the attack.

During the operation, security personnel engaged the suspected terrorists in an exchange of fire, killing one terrorist and recovering his body, police said.

Several other terrorists were also reportedly killed or wounded during the firefight, but their accomplices managed to remove the bodies and injured from the area because of the difficult terrain.

The search and clearance operation was continuing to eliminate any remaining threat and ensure the security of local residents.

The attack highlights the growing use of drones by terrorist networks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where such platforms have increasingly been used for surveillance and attacks while allowing terrorists to operate from concealed positions.
