The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has suffered a major leadership-level setback in Balochistan, with its so-called governor for Pishin, Hafiz Hibatullah Omari, killed in a UAV strike in the Shaban Valley along with two other TTP members.
According to reports received by our correspondent, the strike took place last night in the Shaban Valley, where Hafiz Hibatullah Omari and two other members of the banned organization were reportedly targeted.
Omari was reportedly serving as the TTP’s so-called governor for Pishin, a position that indicates his alleged involvement in the group’s organizational and operational structure in the district.
One of the other individuals killed in the strike has been identified as Musab, a resident of Pishin. The identity of the third TTP member killed in the strike could not immediately be ascertained.
The reported elimination of Omari comes amid intensified counterterrorism operations in Balochistan following the recent deadly attack in Ziarat. Security forces have been conducting operations against terrorist networks across the province, particularly targeting the infrastructure and personnel of groups involved in terrorist violence.
The Shaban Valley has also emerged as a significant area of counterterrorism activity, with security forces targeting suspected terrorist hideouts and networks operating in the region.
The reported strike against a TTP figure holding a so-called gubernatorial position could prove significant if independently confirmed, as the elimination of senior or locally responsible commanders can disrupt the group’s ability to coordinate operations, maintain networks and facilitate terrorist activity.
