Security forces have eliminated six terrorists of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during intelligence-based operations in Bannu over the past week, as operations against terrorist networks continue across the district.
According to security sources, the six terrorists were eliminated in separate intelligence-driven actions carried out during the past seven days. The operations were launched after intelligence indicated the presence and movement of TTP terrorists in different areas of Bannu.
The sources said security forces are maintaining heightened surveillance across the district to track terrorist hideouts, movement routes and support networks. The operations are aimed at disrupting the terrorists before they can organize attacks against security forces or civilians.
A major security operation is also currently underway in Bannu, the sources said, as security forces intensify efforts to locate and neutralize remaining terrorists in the area.
The ongoing operation involves searches of suspected locations and surrounding areas, with security personnel continuing efforts to prevent terrorists from escaping the cordoned-off areas.
Bannu has remained a key focus of counterterrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa because of repeated attempts by TTP terrorists to target security installations, law enforcement personnel and local communities. Intelligence-based operations have increasingly been used to identify and disrupt such networks before they can mount attacks.
