Security forces carried out a joint intelligence-based targeted operation in Upper Dir’s Dubando area and adjoining localities on Tuesday as part of ongoing efforts against terrorist elements and their facilitators.
The operation involved police, paramilitary personnel and other law enforcement agencies, with support from specialized units including elite response teams, counterterrorism personnel, bomb disposal experts and local residents.
According to official sources, security teams conducted searches of multiple suspected locations based on actionable intelligence. The operation focused on identifying and disrupting potential terrorist hideouts, support networks and logistical channels believed to be operating in remote parts of the district.
Authorities said advanced surveillance equipment was utilized throughout the operation. Drone cameras, thermal imaging devices and armored vehicles were deployed to monitor difficult terrain and enhance the safety of personnel participating in the exercise.
The intelligence-led action formed part of broader counterterrorism measures being undertaken in various districts to prevent terrorist activity and deny extremist elements any opportunity to establish support infrastructure.
Security officials stated that the operation was aimed at strengthening law and order, improving situational awareness and maintaining pressure on terrorist networks and their facilitators. They added that searches and verification activities were conducted in accordance with operational requirements and security protocols.
The mountainous geography of Upper Dir, which borders strategically significant regions, has often necessitated enhanced surveillance and coordinated security measures to prevent the movement of terrorist elements and to counter attempts to exploit remote areas for concealment.
During the operation, security arrangements were reviewed and field personnel were briefed on operational objectives. Officials expressed satisfaction with the coordination demonstrated by participating units and reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Authorities emphasized that intelligence-based operations against terrorists and their facilitators would continue and that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant against threats posed by anti-state and peace-disrupting elements.
No arrests, recoveries or casualties were officially reported immediately following the operation. However, officials indicated that such targeted actions are intended to gather intelligence, verify information and disrupt any potential terrorist presence before it can develop into a larger security threat.
