In a move aimed at strengthening counterterrorism coordination and maintaining security in the region, a jirga was convened in the Spinkai Raghzai area of South Waziristan by the local Wing Commander of Frontier Corps (South), bringing together tribal elders and community representatives.
The gathering was attended by prominent Mehsud tribal elders, former senator Saleh Shah, and Sarwakai Mayor Shah Faisal Ghazi, who discussed the prevailing security situation and the challenges facing the area in the wake of recent developments.
Participants reviewed measures to preserve peace and stability, with security officials emphasizing the importance of close cooperation between local communities and state institutions in preventing terrorist activity and maintaining law and order.
Officials urged tribal elders and residents to remain vigilant against suspicious movements and activities, stressing that timely information-sharing can play a critical role in disrupting terrorist networks and preventing potential threats.
During the jirga, it was made clear that support, facilitation, or sheltering of terrorists would not be tolerated. Participants were informed that any individual found assisting terrorists or their facilitators could face legal action under applicable laws.
Community members were also encouraged to actively assist security forces by identifying suspicious individuals and reporting activities that could undermine peace and security in the region.
The jirga concluded with a reaffirmation of the collective commitment of tribal elders and local leaders to support ongoing counterterrorism efforts, deny space to terrorist elements, and work alongside security institutions to safeguard peace and stability in South Waziristan.
Participants expressed the view that lasting peace can only be achieved through unity, vigilance, and continued cooperation between the local population and security forces against the threat posed by terrorist groups.
