A family from Karak district has publicly disowned a relative associated with the terror group, the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), declaring before local residents that they reject his actions and have no connection with any terrorist activity.

Speaking before a gathering of villagers in Zalani Bandi, Muhammad Shaheen, son of Muhammad Ali, said the family had recently learned that their brother, Muhammad Yasir, who left home after a family dispute nearly three years ago, had allegedly fallen into the hands of TTP terrorists and become involved in terrorist activities.

“We are simple laborers who have spent our lives earning an honest living,” Shaheen said. “One brother works in Saudi Arabia, while I work in Dubai. We have never harmed anyone and have no criminal record. The authorities can verify our background through local police and the community.”

According to the family, they had no information about Yasir’s whereabouts for several years. It was only recently that they became aware of his alleged links with the terrorist organization.

The family strongly condemned his reported involvement with the TTP, which Pakistan has formally designated as Fitna al-Khwarij, and announced that they were severing all ties with him.

Addressing the gathering, family elder Muhammad Ali said villagers had been invited to witness their public declaration that Muhammad Yasir had been disowned due to his alleged association with terrorists.

“He has destroyed his own future by joining the ranks of terrorists, but he has also brought suffering upon his elderly mother, our family and the entire village,” he said.

Family members described the emotional toll the situation has taken on their mother, who reportedly suffered a stroke and remains in poor health.

“Our mother is going through immense pain,” Shaheen said. “We are deeply troubled by what he has done. We want everyone to know that we are not involved in his activities, we do not support him, and we have no contact with him.”

The family appealed to security authorities to investigate them if necessary, insisting they have never assisted, facilitated or maintained links with any terrorist group.

Muhammad Ali reiterated before villagers that the family had completely disowned Muhammad Yasir and would neither maintain contact with him nor support him in any way.

The public declaration reflects growing rejection of terrorist organizations by local communities, particularly in areas affected by extremist recruitment. Community elders present at the gathering voiced support for peace and stability and emphasized the need to prevent terrorist groups from exploiting vulnerable individuals and families.
