Security forces have thwarted a major terrorist plot in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan after recovering and neutralizing an explosives-laden suicide vehicle that was allegedly being prepared for a large-scale attack on civilians.

According to security and local sources, the vehicle, a Toyota Hiace van packed with explosive material, was discovered during a timely operation before it could be deployed. The successful action prevented what officials described as a potentially devastating terrorist attack targeting a densely populated area.

Sources said the vehicle had been concealed inside an orchard and was being converted into a suicide bombing platform. To avoid suspicion and evade security checks, terrorists were reportedly fitting the vehicle with passenger seats and tires to make it appear like an ordinary public transport van.

Initial information suggests that the explosive-laden vehicle was intended for use in Wana city, where it could have targeted crowded civilian areas. Security sources said the planned attack had the potential to cause mass casualties among innocent residents, including women and children.

During the operation, security forces located the vehicle in an orchard near the residence of a terrorist identified as Rahmat. Bomb disposal efforts were subsequently carried out, and the vehicle was rendered safe before it could be moved or used in an attack.

Officials said the operation underscores the continued threat posed by terrorist networks seeking to target civilian populations and destabilize the region through indiscriminate violence.

Security authorities praised the vigilance and professionalism of personnel involved in the operation, noting that the timely intervention averted a major tragedy and ensured the safety of local residents.

According to security officials, counterterrorism operations will continue across the region to eliminate terrorist threats and prevent attacks against civilians. They reiterated that security forces remain committed to safeguarding the public and ensuring that terrorist plans are detected and neutralized before they can be executed.
