Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners, with a continued focus on peace, stability, counterterrorism cooperation, and economic partnerships. The Foreign Office stated that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia, where he will hold a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
During the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahira Andrabi said that the upcoming high-level interaction will provide an opportunity for both leaders to review the longstanding and brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and discuss avenues for further expanding bilateral cooperation.
The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of issues, including bilateral relations, investment cooperation, economic partnerships, regional developments, and matters of mutual interest. The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue to maintain close coordination on important regional and global challenges.
Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts regarding the Middle East, the Foreign Office spokesperson stated that the two leaders will also exchange views on the evolving situation in Gaza, the occupied Palestinian territories, East Jerusalem, the Red Sea, and the Bab al-Mandab region.
She reiterated that Pakistan continues to work closely with brotherly Islamic countries and international partners to support diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability, and humanitarian solutions in the region.
The spokesperson also briefed the media on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s participation in a ministerial meeting on Jerusalem held in Jordan on August 5. The meeting was attended by representatives from Arab League member states and selected Islamic countries to discuss the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and explore a coordinated response.
Participants at the meeting emphasized that a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution of the Palestine issue remains essential for achieving sustainable peace and stability in the Middle East. The participating countries reiterated their support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, while reaffirming support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
The meeting also reviewed broader regional developments, with participants agreeing on the importance of continued consultations, diplomatic engagement, and collective efforts to advance peace and security.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held separate meetings with the foreign ministers of Jordan, Türkiye, Egypt, Algeria, Iran, and Somalia. He also extended an invitation to the Iranian Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan.
The Foreign Office spokesperson further highlighted Pakistan’s continued cooperation with international partners in the fight against terrorism. She informed that the latest round of Pakistan-US special counterterrorism dialogue was recently held, with Pakistan’s delegation led by Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh.
During the dialogue, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening counterterrorism cooperation, enhancing border security, dismantling terrorist facilitation networks, and improving coordination to address emerging security threats.
Pakistan emphasized the importance of sustained international cooperation and intelligence-sharing to effectively counter terrorism and promote regional and global security.
The spokesperson also shared details of the recent senior officials’ talks and Joint Trade Committee meeting between Pakistan and Canada held on August 4 in Canada.
During the discussions, both countries reviewed opportunities to enhance cooperation in political, economic, trade, security, and regional areas. The two sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding mutually beneficial partnerships.
The Foreign Office spokesperson also stated that Pakistan observed the seventh anniversary of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, reaffirming solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
She urged the international community to play its role in ensuring the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized the importance of peaceful resolution of longstanding disputes in accordance with international commitments.
Pakistan reiterated that it will continue to pursue an active diplomatic agenda focused on regional peace, economic cooperation, and constructive engagement with the international community.
