Pakistan has formally lodged a strong diplomatic protest with the Afghan Taliban authorities following the emergence of evidence allegedly linking Afghan nationals to the recent terrorist attack on the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi. The Government of Pakistan has urged the Afghan authorities to take immediate and effective measures to prevent Afghan territory from being used for planning, facilitating, or launching terrorist attacks against Pakistan.
According to the Foreign Office Spokesperson, Afghanistan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Islamabad was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the previous evening, where a formal demarche was delivered expressing Pakistan’s strong protest over the Karachi terrorist attack and conveying the country’s serious security concerns.
The spokesperson further stated that Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, simultaneously presented a similar demarche to officials of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul, reaffirming Pakistan’s position and emphasizing the urgent need for meaningful action against cross-border terrorism.
The Foreign Office stated that the diplomatic protests were issued in light of evidence indicating the alleged involvement of Afghan nationals in the Karachi attack. According to the spokesperson, one of the attackers was apprehended alive during the operation, and subsequent investigations reportedly pointed toward the involvement of Afghan citizens.
The spokesperson noted that the incident reinforces Pakistan’s longstanding concern that Afghan territory and Afghan nationals continue to be exploited by hostile elements for the planning, coordination, and execution of terrorist activities inside Pakistan.
Pakistan reiterated that it has consistently shared its concerns regarding cross-border terrorism with the Afghan authorities and has repeatedly called for decisive action against individuals, groups, and networks operating from Afghan soil that threaten Pakistan’s peace and security.
The Government emphasized that eliminating terrorism remains a shared regional responsibility and stressed that no country’s territory should be allowed to serve as a sanctuary, training ground, or operational base for groups involved in acts of terrorism against neighboring states.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to regional peace, constructive engagement, and good-neighborly relations while underscoring that the safety and security of its citizens remain its foremost national priority. The Government urged the Afghan authorities to fulfill their international obligations by taking credible, verifiable, and sustained measures to deny terrorist organizations the ability to operate from Afghan territory.
Pakistan also reiterated its resolve to continue working with all relevant stakeholders to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and to ensure lasting peace, stability, and security throughout the region.
The Government of Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting its citizens and will continue taking all necessary diplomatic, security, and legal measures to counter the threat of cross-border terrorism.
