A local laborer was martyred in an IED attack in the Tirah Valley, with local sources saying a terrorist organization targeted him with a remotely or locally triggered improvised explosive device.
The blast also killed the laborer’s donkey, which he was reportedly using while travelling through the area.
The victim was identified as Qismat Khan, son of the late Ismail Wajid, a resident of Takhtakai Kamar Khel, Mian Dad Khel, Tor Dara in the Tirah Valley.
According to social media accounts affiliated with the armed organisation, Qismat Khan was allegedly carrying rations for security forces when he was targeted. However, local residents have described a very different picture of the victim, saying he was an extremely poor labourer who worked simply to earn enough for his family’s daily needs.
The contrasting accounts have added another grim dimension to the incident, with local sources maintaining that the victim was a civilian labourer caught in a terrorist attack.
The use of an improvised explosive device against a local worker highlights the continuing threat posed by terrorist elements operating in the difficult terrain of the Tirah Valley, where civilians can become victims of attacks intended to disrupt security and undermine normal life.
The killing has also drawn concern among local residents, who say attacks against ordinary workers further compound the hardships faced by communities already struggling with poverty and insecurity.
The incident underscores the human cost of terrorism in the tribal belt, where ordinary people trying to make a living can find themselves caught in the crossfire or deliberately targeted by terrorist organisations.
