Pakistan Army Destroys Afghan Taliban Gun Position After Cross-Border Fire Injures Civilians in South Waziristan

The Pakistan Army has destroyed a gun position across the border in response to unprovoked firing that injured three civilians, including two women, in the Angoor Adda sector of South Waziristan on Sunday.

According to official and local sources, the incident occurred in the border village of Zalol Khel, where firing from across the Afghanistan side targeted civilian areas without warning. As a result, three individuals identified as Rahimullah, his wife, and the wife of Zainullahsustained serious injuries. The wounded were promptly shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Security officials stated that the source of the firing was accurately identified, and a targeted response was carried out, resulting in the destruction of the gun position responsible for the firing. The response was described as precise and proportionate, aimed at neutralizing the immediate threat while avoiding further escalation.

Authorities further indicated that this development follows a pattern of attempted cross-border infiltration by militant elements seeking entry into Pakistan. These attempts, however, have consistently been thwarted due to heightened vigilance and effective operational readiness of Pakistani security forces.

Local residents strongly condemned the incident, expressing deep concern over the safety of civilian populations living in border regions. They also called for continued and decisive measures to prevent such occurrences in the future and ensure lasting security.

Officials noted that tensions along the border have persisted in recent months, with similar incidents reported in regions including Dir, Bajaur, Orakzai, Torkham, and North Waziristan, where civilian areas have been exposed to cross-border hostilities.

The situation remains under close monitoring, and authorities have reiterated their commitment to safeguarding civilian lives and maintaining territorial integrity.
