A total of 2,117 illegally residing Afghan nationals were repatriated to Afghanistan through the Torkham border on Wednesday as Pakistan’s repatriation process for illegal foreign nationals continued.
The individuals were processed through the Hamza Baba Transit Camp in Landi Kotal before being deported via the Torkham crossing.
During a visit to the transit camp, the Assistant Commissioner of Landi Kotal reviewed the registration process, repatriation arrangements, available facilities and the performance of officials from NADRA, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and other relevant departments. The visit was conducted on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner of Khyber.
The official also met Afghan nationals at the camp to inquire about the facilities being provided. According to the administration, the returning Afghan nationals expressed satisfaction with the arrangements, following which officials were directed to further improve service delivery and ensure the timely provision of all necessary facilities.
Authorities said additional NADRA staff have been deployed to accelerate the registration process and effectively manage the increasing number of individuals arriving at the transit camp, ensuring that the repatriation process continues without interruption.
Later, the Assistant Commissioner visited the Torkham Zero Point, where he monitored the deportation process of the registered illegal Afghan nationals and also met with those returning to Afghanistan, who again expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made for their repatriation.
