Security forces eliminated a most wanted commander of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khuzdar district, according to security sources.
Sources identified the slain terrorist as Shoaib, son of Ali Bakhsh Imrani, a senior BLA commander who was allegedly involved in planning and facilitating multiple terrorist activities in the region. The operation was launched after security agencies received credible intelligence regarding his presence at a hideout in the district.
Acting on the intelligence, security forces cordoned off the area and carried out a precision operation. During the ensuing engagement, the high-value BLA commander was neutralized, while other suspected terrorists are believed to have fled into the surrounding terrain.
Officials described the elimination of the wanted commander as a significant setback to the operational network of the banned outfit in Khuzdar and adjoining areas. Security sources said the terrorist had long been on the radar of law enforcement agencies for his alleged involvement in orchestrating attacks against security forces, state installations and civilians, besides facilitating recruitment and logistical support for the group.
A search and sanitization operation is continuing in the area to trace any remaining terrorists or facilitators. Security personnel are combing nearby locations to ensure that no accomplices escape the security dragnet.
The latest intelligence-based operation is part of the ongoing counterterrorism campaign aimed at dismantling the operational infrastructure of terrorist groups active in Balochistan. Security forces have vowed to continue such operations until terrorist networks and their facilitators are completely eliminated from the region.
