A successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted by Police against Khawarij in the mountainous Laram (Ladam) area of Lower Dir, resulting in the neutralization of five Khawarij following an intense exchange of fire.
According to security sources, the operation was launched after the receipt of credible intelligence regarding the presence of Khawarij in the area. As Police personnel moved to engage the suspects, the Khawarij opened fire in an attempt to resist the operation, triggering a fierce gun battle.
Police responded swiftly and effectively, engaging the hostile elements with determination. During the exchange, five Khawarij were neutralized, dealing a significant blow to the group’s presence and operational capability in the area.
Security sources further stated that reports have also been received indicating casualties among Police personnel during the operation. The injured officers were immediately evacuated and shifted to a nearby hospital to receive urgent medical treatment. The exact details regarding the casualties are being verified.
Following the engagement, Security Forces moved to support the Police by establishing a comprehensive cordon around the area to prevent the escape of any remaining Khawarij. A search and clearance operation is currently underway to locate and apprehend those who managed to flee during the encounter. Security officials have affirmed that the operation will continue until the area has been fully cleared of hostile elements.
