Khawarij carried out a destructive attack on a key bridge near Kotka Nazar Shah in the Dagar Kili area of Ghazni Khel tehsil, Lakki Marwat, causing severe damage to public infrastructure and disrupting transportation routes used daily by local residents.
According to initial reports, explosive material was planted underneath the roadside bridge before being detonated, resulting in major structural destruction. The blast badly damaged the bridge’s foundation and connecting roadway, rendering the route unsafe and creating serious travel difficulties for surrounding communities.
The targeted bridge served as an important link for residents, transporters, students, traders, and emergency services operating between nearby villages and adjoining localities. Following the explosion, traffic movement in the affected area was significantly disrupted, forcing commuters to seek alternative and longer routes.
Security officials and local administration personnel rushed to the scene shortly after the incident and launched an investigation into the attack. Authorities believe the sabotage was carried out by Khawarij elements seeking to destabilise the region, spread fear among civilians, and damage critical public infrastructure.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were immediately reported; however, officials described the attack as a serious act of terrorism aimed at undermining peace and normal life in the district.
Local residents strongly condemned the incident and called upon authorities to take immediate action against those involved. Community members also urged the government to accelerate reconstruction efforts and strengthen security around vital infrastructure projects in vulnerable areas.
District authorities confirmed that technical teams would soon begin a detailed assessment of the damaged structure to determine the scale of repairs required. Law enforcement agencies have also intensified intelligence-based operations and search activities in surrounding areas to track down the perpetrators.
Officials reaffirmed the state’s resolve to eliminate terrorism and maintain peace across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasizing that such cowardly acts would not weaken public morale or the government’s commitment to regional stability and development.
The attack has once again highlighted ongoing security challenges in certain parts of the province, where militants continue targeting civilian infrastructure in attempts to disrupt daily life and create instability.
