Khawarij Attack on Kangar Bridge Police Checkpost Repelled in Bannu; Attackers Forced to Flee

A coordinated attack by Khawarij on the Kangar Bridge Police Checkpost in Bannu District was successfully repelled after security forces and local police mounted a strong and immediate counter-response, supported by members of the Mandan Peace Committee and local residents.

According to the available information, the Khawarij launched the attack on the police checkpost, attempting to target security personnel and breach the security position. However, security forces and local police were already deployed in combat positions and responded immediately to the attack.

The Khawarij came under intense return fire as security forces and police effectively engaged the attackers, preventing them from achieving their objective. The counter-response forced the Khawarij to break ranks and retreat from the area. During the exchange of fire, several Khawarij were reportedly injured. As the attackers fled into the darkness, they reportedly attempted to carry their injured associates with them.

The security response was reinforced by members of the Mandan Peace Committee and local residents, who stood alongside the security forces and police during the confrontation. Their support added further strength to the response and demonstrated the resolve of the local community to resist the Khawarij threat.

Following the failed attack, security forces and police launched a hot-pursuit operation to track the fleeing Khawarij and prevent them from regrouping or attempting another attack in the area.

The search and pursuit operation is continuing, with security personnel maintaining heightened vigilance across the surrounding areas to locate the fleeing Khawarij and neutralise the remaining threat.

The attack on the Kangar Bridge Police Checkpost failed to achieve its intended objective. The Khawarij were unable to overrun the security position and were instead forced to withdraw under sustained counter-fire. The swift response by security forces and police once again demonstrated their operational readiness and ability to respond effectively to attempts by the Khawarij to target security installations.

The active support extended by members of the Mandan Peace Committee and local residents is also significant, reflecting the determination of communities in affected areas to stand against terrorism and protect peace and stability in their respective regions.

The participation and support of local residents during the confrontation sends a strong message that the Khawarij cannot rely on public support to establish themselves or intimidate communities. The collective response of security forces, police, the Mandan Peace Committee and local residents represents a united front against attempts by the Khawarij to disrupt peace, threaten public safety or undermine stability in Bannu.
