Iran Praises Pakistan’s Diplomatic Role Ahead of Iran-US Ceasefire Talks

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Iran on an emergency visit and held key meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, amid intensified diplomatic efforts ahead of the Iran-US ceasefire talks scheduled to take place in Switzerland on Sunday.

According to international media reports, President Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s positive role in the diplomatic process aimed at securing a ceasefire between Iran and the United States and expressed special gratitude to the Pakistani leadership.

The Iranian president said Pakistan’s brotherly, balanced and responsible diplomacy had not only helped pave the way for the ceasefire agreement but had also contributed significantly to strengthening the ongoing negotiations. He said Pakistan’s seriousness and restraint during the recent crisis had helped reduce regional tensions.

President Pezeshkian expressed hope that Iran and Pakistan would continue to maintain close coordination to promote peace, stability and cooperation in the region. He also stressed the importance of further strengthening the two countries’ historic, religious and brotherly ties.

During the meeting, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for peace, dialogue and de-escalation in the region. He said Pakistan has consistently advocated the peaceful resolution of disputes through diplomacy and would continue to pursue the same policy.

The two sides also held detailed discussions on bilateral relations, border cooperation, trade, regional security and the evolving situation in the Middle East.
