The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Hyderabad has successfully conducted an intelligence-based targeted operation, arresting a wanted operative associated with the banned Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) from the jurisdiction of Husrri Police Station.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the arrested suspect has been identified as Imam Bakhsh Khaskheli, who was wanted by CTD in connection with multiple terrorism-related cases. The operation was carried out on the basis of credible intelligence regarding the presence and activities of the wanted individual.
During the operation, law enforcement personnel recovered a significant quantity of explosive material and weapons-related items from the arrested suspect. The recovered items included a hand grenade, explosive material, detonators, remote control devices, batteries, detonating cords, and empty casings of 30-bore and submachine gun ammunition.
During the engagement, the suspect’s accomplice, Somar Mallah, allegedly opened fire on the police team and managed to escape. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice.
CTD officials stated that cases have been registered against the arrested individual under relevant provisions of anti-terrorism laws, the Explosives Act, and other applicable sections. Further investigation is being conducted on modern lines to uncover additional details regarding the network, facilitators, and planned activities of the group.
According to CTD, Imam Bakhsh Khaskheli was an ideological worker and facilitator of the banned SRA and had remained a proclaimed absconder in several cases. Officials stated that the suspect was linked with previously arrested SRA members, including Mubashir Laghari, Ali Haider Kattario, Sarang Mirani, and Mehran Mirani.
The arrested suspect was allegedly involved in providing financial assistance and explosive material to terrorist elements. During preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly disclosed that the explosive material had been provided by his accomplice, Somar Mallah. Officials further stated that the suspect was allegedly planning attacks targeting law enforcement vehicles.
The suspect also reportedly revealed that he was recruited through Telegram by alleged SRA commander Asghar Shah and admitted to having links with various members of the organization and involvement in multiple hostile activities.
CTD officials further stated that the arrested individual was allegedly involved in attacks on cargo trailers in Sujawal district of Sindh, as well as incidents involving attacks on vehicles associated with the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), stone pelting, and extortion activities.
The suspect was also allegedly involved in online and ideological activities aimed at influencing young individuals and encouraging them towards anti-state activities.
CTD Hyderabad has intensified efforts to arrest the escaped accomplice, while further interrogations of the arrested suspect are expected to reveal additional information regarding the operational structure, support networks, and future plans of the banned organization.
The Counter Terrorism Department reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, preventing acts of violence, and ensuring the safety and security of citizens through intelligence-led operations.
