Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has categorically stated that attempts to weaken Pakistan through a separatist narrative will never succeed, emphasizing that the future of Balochistan is firmly linked with Pakistan and that the province’s progress, prosperity and long-term stability are inseparable from the strength and development of the country.
The Chief Minister expressed these views during a special interactive session with students participating in the Summer Internship Programme 2026, in which more than 6,150 students from 21 stations across Pakistan took part.
The session provided an opportunity for students from across the country to engage directly with the Chief Minister on issues relating to Balochistan’s security, development, governance and future prospects. Mir Sarfraz Bugti spoke at length about the evolving security environment in the province, terrorism, what he described as Fitna al-Hindustan, anti-state propaganda, developments concerning Afghanistan, the role of social media and the challenges and opportunities associated with governance.
Addressing the students, Chief Minister Bugti said that terrorist and other violent elements were attempting to create instability in Balochistan through acts of violence and fear. He stressed that efforts to weaken Pakistan by promoting a separatist narrative would not succeed.
“Balochistan’s future is connected with Pakistan,” the Chief Minister said, emphasizing that the development, prosperity and survival of the people of Balochistan are linked to a strong, stable and prosperous Pakistan.
He maintained that the people of Balochistan have a fundamental stake in peace, economic opportunity, education, development and effective governance, and that the province’s future must be shaped through progress and constructive engagement rather than violence and division.
Speaking about the security situation, Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that terrorist elements, including those he identified as Fitna al-Hindustan, were attempting to spread violence and instability in Balochistan. He said the Government of Balochistan and the security forces were working under a coordinated strategy to confront terrorism and protect the lives and property of citizens.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the fight against terrorism requires coordinated efforts, institutional capacity, public cooperation and sustained measures to prevent violent elements from exploiting insecurity and fear.
He said the provincial government would continue working with relevant institutions to strengthen law and order and create an environment conducive to development and public welfare Mir Sarfraz Bugti also spoke about the sensitive issue of human rights, particularly the issue of missing persons. He alleged that subjects relating to human rights and missing persons were being exploited to advance anti-state narratives and facilitate the promotion of terrorism.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of addressing legitimate public concerns through constitutional, legal and institutional mechanisms, while rejecting the use of sensitive issues as a justification or instrument for violence. He said that the government remained committed to governance, public service delivery and addressing issues affecting citizens through lawful and peaceful means.
Discussing the presence of Pakistan-opposing elements in Afghanistan, the Chief Minister said that the Afghan interim government must honour its international commitments and ensure that its territory is not used by elements seeking to undermine Pakistan’s security. He underscored the importance of responsible regional conduct and effective action against groups involved in violence and terrorism. According to the Chief Minister, lasting regional peace requires states to fulfil their commitments and prevent their territories from being used for activities that threaten neighbouring countries.
Addressing the students directly, Mir Sarfraz Bugti urged young people to critically evaluate information and narratives circulating through traditional and social media. He observed that a narrative becoming popular does not necessarily make it truthful. “A popular narrative is not always the narrative of truth,” he said, emphasizing the importance of understanding facts, examining information critically and distinguishing between legitimate public discourse and narratives designed to manipulate or mislead society.
The Chief Minister highlighted the growing influence of social media and stressed the need for young people to approach digital information responsibly and thoughtfully.
The participation of more than 6,150 students from 21 stations across Pakistan in the Summer Internship Programme, the Chief Minister said, reflected the importance of connecting young people with institutions, governance and the realities of public service. He encouraged the participating students to develop a deeper understanding of Pakistan’s diverse regions and the challenges faced by Balochistan.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that the province’s young generation has a vital role to play in shaping its future through education, skills, innovation, civic responsibility and constructive participation in society. He said that sustainable development and lasting peace could only be achieved by investing in human capital and creating opportunities for young people.
Concluding his interaction with the students, Chief Minister Bugti reiterated that the people of Balochistan deserve peace, stability, economic opportunity and meaningful development. He said that Balochistan’s progress must remain a national priority and that the province’s future would be strengthened through improved governance, investment in its people, effective public services and continued efforts against terrorism.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the Government of Balochistan would continue working to safeguard the province, strengthen governance and create greater opportunities for its people. He emphasized that standing with Pakistan means standing for the future, development and prosperity of Balochistan, adding that the province’s stability and prosperity are integral to the strength and progress of Pakistan as a whole.
