Bajaur Police successfully defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by miscreants within the jurisdiction of Nawagai Police Station, preventing what officials described as a potentially major tragedy.
According to police, the explosive device was discovered following the receipt of credible information, prompting the immediate deployment of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) to the site. After securing the surrounding area and implementing comprehensive safety measures, the team carried out a controlled operation and safely neutralized the explosive.
Police officials said the timely response and professional handling of the situation averted possible casualties and significant damage to property. The area was thoroughly searched to ensure no additional explosive devices had been planted.
The incident underscores the continuing threat posed by anti-state elements attempting to target public places through improvised explosive devices. Security officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious objects or activities to law enforcement agencies.
An investigation has been initiated to identify those responsible for planting the explosive, while security measures have been further strengthened across sensitive locations in the district to prevent similar attempts.
