Security forces neutralized two members of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in Nok Chah after they allegedly set an empty water bowser on fire and attempted to flee, security sources said, marking the second major operation against arson and sabotage activities in the area within a month.
According to security sources, the two men set the empty water bowser ablaze before attempting to escape from the scene. Security forces immediately launched a pursuit, which culminated in an exchange of fire that left both men dead.
The sources said the two individuals were confirmed members of the BLA and had previously been involved in arson incidents at various locations along the N-40 highway.
The latest operation comes weeks after a major security action on August 31, when 11 BLA members were killed while allegedly attempting to carry out similar activities, according to security sources.
Link to Earlier Sabotage Incidents Under Investigation
Security sources said arson and sabotage activities were a prominent feature of both incidents, adding that investigators were examining possible links between the latest operation and earlier incidents along the N-40 highway.
The repeated targeting of infrastructure and vehicles through arson has raised concerns about attempts to disrupt movement and damage property along the highway.
