Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Combating Terrorism, Urges Accountability for Sponsors: Jawad Ajmal at UN

Pakistan’s representative to the United Nations, Counselor Jawad Ajmal, reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to combating terrorism and supporting its victims, while calling for international efforts to hold perpetrators and their sponsors accountable.

Speaking at the launch of the “Association Network for Victims of Terrorism” at the United Nations, Jawad Ajmal said that Pakistan has been a frontline state in the fight against terrorism and has endured significant sacrifices. He noted that Pakistan possesses concrete evidence that the attack on the Jaffar Express, which resulted in the martyrdom of 30 innocent civilians, was carried out with external support from a regional adversary.

Jawad Ajmal emphasized that the international community must extend full support to victims of terrorism and their families, and called for a clear distinction between acts of terrorism and the legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination.

Highlighting the situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he pointed out that over 900,000 Indian troops have been deployed in the region, where serious human rights violations continue. He urged the global community to take cognizance of the situation, play its role in ending state-sponsored violence, and support the Kashmiri people’s quest for their inalienable right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Jawad Ajmal also reiterated Pakistan’s principled condemnation of the recent attack in Pahalgam and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and human rights globally.
