Major Blow to TTP as Senior Leader Faqir Muhammad Bajauri’s Son Killed in Bajaur Operation

Security forces killed Fareed, the son of outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader Faqir Muhammad Bajauri, along with two of his accomplices during a major operation in Bajaur early Sunday morning.

According to security officials, Fareed, who was the son of Faqir Muhammad Bajauri—former deputy commander and head of the TTP’s Political Commission—was attempting to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan’s Kunar province via the Ghakhi Pass.

Security agencies described Fareed’s killing as a significant blow to the banned outfit, noting that he was an influential figure within the organization and played an active role in its internal affairs.
