Fact Check: Viral Video Claiming Blast at Pakistan Army HQ is False — Footage is from Syria

A video circulating widely on social media claiming to show a powerful explosion at the Pakistan Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi has been found to be misleading. The footage is not from Pakistan but from Syria.

The Claim

On March 23, a user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a 23-second video clip depicting a chaotic scene with people fleeing from a burning structure. The caption, written in Hindi, translates to: “Massive blast at Pakistani army headquarters in Pakistan, 20 Pakistani soldiers burnt to ashes.” The post quickly gained traction, amassing over 128,000 views and nearly 4,000 likes at the time of this report.

The same video was also shared by another user on X.

The Truth

After thorough verification, it has been confirmed that the video is not linked to any recent incident in Pakistan. The footage originally comes from Syria and has previously circulated online in the context of Syrian conflict zones. While the same news was circulated by a Facebook page that is Sky News Arabia  and claiming that the attack happened in Syria
