Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the security and defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing that Islamabad stands with Riyadh both diplomatically and practically and will continue to support the Kingdom against any form of aggression.
In an interview with Arab News, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia extends to the protection of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security, including the two holiest sites of Islam, Makkah and Madinah.
“Pakistan stands fully with Saudi Arabia, diplomatically as well as practically,” the DG ISPR said, emphasizing that the country’s commitment to Saudi security remains unconditional.
He underscored that Pakistan would go to any extent necessary in support of Saudi Arabia’s defence and would continue to provide assistance against any aggression directed towards the Kingdom. He described the enduring relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as being rooted in deep historical bonds between the peoples, armed forces and leaderships of the two countries.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry highlighted the longstanding and multifaceted nature of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations, noting that the relationship has historically been characterized by close cooperation, mutual trust and strong people-to-people bonds.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan remains in continuous contact with the Saudi leadership and is closely monitoring developments in the region. Islamabad, he said, is also engaged in consultations with governments across the region in an effort to promote dialogue, de-escalation and a peaceful resolution to the prevailing tensions.
Pakistan’s approach, he emphasized, is based not only on its longstanding ties with Saudi Arabia but also on its broader objective of contributing to regional peace and stability.
The DG ISPR further stressed the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement at a time of heightened regional tensions. He said Pakistan is maintaining contacts with relevant regional and international stakeholders and is seeking common ground that could help bring the parties back to the negotiating table.
In this context, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry described the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding as the only realistic pathway out of the current complex military situation. Pakistan, he said, is working to identify areas of common ground with the objective of facilitating the resumption of negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
He emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy remain essential to preventing further escalation and addressing the underlying issues through peaceful means.
Pakistan’s position, as outlined by the DG ISPR, combines a firm commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security with continued diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and encouraging a negotiated settlement.
Islamabad remains engaged with the Saudi leadership and other governments in the region, with the stated objective of supporting stability, preventing further escalation and creating conditions conducive to meaningful dialogue.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reiterated that Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia is founded on longstanding strategic, institutional and fraternal ties. The two countries share a relationship that encompasses defence cooperation, diplomatic engagement and deep connections between their peoples.
Pakistan, he said, will continue to stand with Saudi Arabia and remain committed to its security while simultaneously pursuing diplomatic avenues to help address regional tensions and support a peaceful resolution to the prevailing crisis.
