The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by the Pakistani state and government as Fitna al-Khwarij, has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast near the Frontier Road Police Checkpost in Peshawar’s Sra Khawra area that injured a police officer and partially damaged the facility’s boundary wall.
The responsibility claim was issued by the banned group following the blast. The claim could not be independently verified.
According to police officials, an explosive device had been planted near the police facility, triggering the explosion in the vicinity of the checkpost. A police personnel present in the area was injured in the blast, while the force of the explosion caused partial damage to the boundary wall.
Police and security teams reached the site shortly after the explosion and cordoned off the area. A search and clearance operation was launched to determine whether additional explosive devices had been planted nearby and to check the surrounding area for any suspicious activity.
Security measures have subsequently been intensified around the police facility and nearby areas as law-enforcement personnel continue their search operation.
