Security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in Kurram District, targeting elements affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij. During the operation, four Khawarij, including Afghan national Obaidullah Saad, were eliminated.
According to sources, the operation was conducted on 8 September 2026 on the basis of actionable intelligence regarding the presence and activities of Khawarij linked to Fitna al-Khawarij. The successful operation resulted in the elimination of four Khawarij, delivering a significant blow to elements involved in terrorist activities and attempts to undermine peace and security in the region.
Among those eliminated was Obaidullah Saad, son of Ghulam Ghaus Salehi, an Afghan national reportedly belonging to Shah Qila village in Afghanistan’s Logar Province. According to sources, Saad was affiliated with the outlawed Fitna al-Khawarij and had been involved in multiple terrorist activities in Pakistan.
The successful operation underscores the continued effectiveness of intelligence-based counter-terrorism efforts aimed at identifying, tracking and neutralising Khawarij elements before they can further threaten the lives and security of innocent citizens.
The presence and activities of Afghan Khawarij and individuals involved in cross-border infiltration remain a serious security concern. Security forces continue to maintain heightened vigilance in vulnerable areas and are pursuing Khawarij elements seeking to exploit Pakistan’s territory for terrorist activities.
Security forces have reiterated that operations against state-hostile elements infiltrating from Afghanistan and Khawarij involved in terrorism will continue without discrimination and in accordance with the law.
Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to protecting the country’s territorial integrity and safeguarding the lives and property of its citizens. No compromise will be made on national security, public safety, or the protection of innocent people from Khawarij violence.
The successful elimination of four Khawarij in Kurram demonstrates the importance of intelligence-based operations in countering the threat posed by Fitna al-Khawarij. Through sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, coordination and decisive action, security forces continue to disrupt Khawarij networks and prevent their plans from translating into attacks against civilians and security personnel.
The government and security forces have reaffirmed that the protection of the people of Pakistan remains the foremost priority. Every necessary measure will continue to be taken to ensure that Khawarij elements, their facilitators and infiltrators are denied the opportunity to threaten peace and stability.
The operation sends a clear message to the Khawarij and their facilitators: attempts to destabilise Pakistan, infiltrate its territory, or endanger its citizens will be met with a firm and determined response.
