Residents of Hathi Khel in Bannu’s Sub-Division Wazir successfully repelled an overnight attack by terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khwarij, preventing them from advancing into the village.
According to a resident, the terrorists launched the attack on the village in Pang Musa Khel, Hathi Khel, during the night. Despite sustained firing, residents remained resolute and confronted the attackers, blocking their advance.
The resident said the terrorists continued firing for an extended period, but local people held their positions and resisted the attack. The confrontation continued into the morning, when the terrorists also attempted to target the area using quadcopters.
With residents facing the attackers without adequate heavy weapons, they contacted local police authorities and sought assistance. Police responded promptly to the request and provided the residents with necessary equipment and weapons to help them defend the area.
The residents expressed appreciation for the timely support provided by the police, saying their assistance during the difficult situation was commendable.
The incident highlights the growing role of local communities in resisting terrorist attacks in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in areas repeatedly targeted by Fitna al-Khwarij.
The residents also expressed hope that law-enforcement agencies would continue providing necessary support to communities facing terrorist threats and strengthen security measures to prevent such attacks in the future.
