Bannu Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) have eliminated three Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the limits of Domel Police Station, with several others reportedly injured.
The operation was conducted in the areas of Sparka, Saidwan and Akbar Ali Khan Kalay under the direct supervision of Bannu Regional Police Officer Rab Nawaz Khan, and District Police Officer Captain (retd.) Muhammad Furqan Bilal.
According to police, a heavy exchange of fire took place between the law enforcement personnel and the terrorists during the operation. Three terrorists were eliminated, while the body of one of the slain terrorists was also recovered from the area. The identities of those eliminated are being ascertained.
Six police personnel sustained minor injuries during the operation. They were immediately shifted to hospital for medical treatment, and their condition was reported to be out of danger.
Personnel from the investigation and CTD branches, SDPOs, other police officers and personnel, along with security forces, participated in the operation.
A Kalashnikov, two hand grenades and three magazines were recovered from the possession of the eliminated terrorists.
RPO Bannu said indiscriminate and vigorous operations against Fitna al-Khwarij and other elements hostile to peace would continue. He said the terrorists would not be allowed to find safe havens, adding that operations would continue without interruption until lasting peace was established in the area.
DPO Bannu said the police personnel were confronting elements hostile to peace with courage, determination and professional resolve. He added that Bannu Police would continue to perform its responsibilities with full force and commitment to protect the lives and property of the public and maintain law and order in the district.
