Major IBO in Bannu: Wanted Fitna al-Khawarij Top Commander “Gaidar” Killed

An intelligence-based counter-terrorism operation is underway across several areas of Domel in Bannu, where district police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) are conducting coordinated action against elements of Fitna al-Khawarij.

The operation is being conducted under the leadership of DPO Bannu Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Furqan Bilal, with specialized teams from Bannu District Police and CTD actively engaged in intelligence-led operations within the jurisdiction of Domel Police Station.

A significant development in the ongoing operation is the reported killing of highly wanted commander “Gaidar.” DPO Muhammad Furqan Bilal confirmed the elimination of the commander, describing the development as an important breakthrough in the ongoing intelligence-based action against Fitna al-Khawarij elements operating in the area.

The reported elimination of a wanted commander is expected to disrupt the operational capabilities of the network and provide security agencies with further opportunities to identify and dismantle associated elements. According to the information released by Bannu police, the operation is being conducted in Akbar Ali Khan Kalay, Sada Khel, Sadar Awan and adjoining areas.

Police and CTD teams are carrying out targeted actions based on intelligence regarding the presence and movement of suspected Fitna al-Khawarij elements. Security personnel are conducting searches and surveillance of identified locations while maintaining heightened vigilance across the surrounding areas.

The ongoing operation reflects a continued focus on intelligence-based policing, with security personnel using information regarding suspected militant movements and hideouts to conduct targeted searches and security operations. Searches of suspected locations and monitoring of movement in the area are continuing as authorities work to identify additional elements associated with the network. Security arrangements have reportedly been strengthened across the affected areas to prevent further movement of suspected militants and to protect local communities.

Police and CTD personnel remain deployed in the operational area, while surveillance and search activities continue. Authorities are expected to maintain the operation until the security assessment of the area is completed and any remaining threats are addressed.

The operation in Domel comes amid sustained counter-terrorism efforts by law-enforcement agencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The reported killing of the highly wanted commander marks a significant development in the ongoing operation, while the continuation of searches and intelligence-based activities indicates that security forces remain focused on preventing militant networks from regrouping or establishing operational footholds in the area.
