Security forces carried out a highly targeted intelligence-based operation in the Shinkay Banda area of Tall Tehsil in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, eliminating six terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khwarij and dismantling what officials described as a key terrorist hideout.
According to security sources, the operation was launched after intelligence reports confirmed the presence of terrorists using the location as a safe haven to coordinate activities and plan attacks in Hangu and adjoining districts. Acting on precise intelligence, Security forces surrounded the compound and engaged the terrorists in a fierce exchange of fire.
All six terrorists present at the hideout were eliminated during the operation. The successful raid dealt a significant blow to the operational network of Fitna al-Khwarij in Central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security officials said.
Sources added that the operation follows the recent elimination of the group’s regional commander, Muawiya, in neighbouring Orakzai district. The back-to-back setbacks are believed to have severely disrupted the command and operational structure of the Mufti Ahmad Kazim group, which has been active in parts of Hangu, Orakzai and nearby areas.
A cache of weapons, ammunition, communication equipment and other materials is expected to be recovered from the hideout as search and clearance operations continue in the surrounding locality. Security personnel have cordoned off the area to ensure that no terrorist manages to escape.
Officials said the intelligence-driven operation forms part of an ongoing campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure, denying Fitna al-Khwarij safe havens and preventing future attacks against civilians and security personnel.
Security Forces reaffirmed their resolve to continue pursuing the remaining terrorists until the area is completely cleared, emphasizing that operations against Fitna al-Khwarij will continue unabated to restore lasting peace and stability across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
