Mastermind of Deadly Hangu Checkpost Attack Eliminated in Intelligence-Based Operation

Law enforcement agencies successfully conducted an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Hangu, eliminating the mastermind behind the deadly attack on the Khazana Banda Police Checkpost.

According to police authorities, the operation was launched after security personnel detected the movement of 15 to 18 Khawarij near Chhapri Naryab. Acting on intelligence, law enforcement agencies swiftly engaged the hostile elements during the operation, resulting in the elimination of a highly wanted Khawarij commander.

Police officials identified the deceased as Ameer Muawiya, a key commander of the banned TTP Kazim Group, who was  the mastermind behind the 29 July attack on the Khazana Banda Police Checkpost in Hangu.

Authorities stated that Ameer Muawiya was considered the second most important commander of the Kazim Group, following Commander Kazim, and was wanted in connection with multiple acts of violence and attacks targeting law enforcement personnel.

According to investigators, the Khazana Banda Checkpost attack was one of the deadliest assaults on police personnel in the region. During the attack, Khawarij launched a coordinated assault on the police checkpost, resulting in the martyrdom of 10 police personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), while 28 other police officials sustained injuries.

Security officials believe the elimination of the alleged mastermind represents a significant setback to the operational capabilities of the Kazim Group and its network operating in the area.

The successful intelligence-based operation underscores the continued efforts of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies to identify, pursue, and neutralize those responsible for attacks against security personnel and civilians. Authorities reiterated their commitment to dismantling Khawarij networks, bringing their facilitators to justice, and maintaining peace and stability across the region.

Security operations and intelligence-led actions against Khawarij elements will continue as part of ongoing efforts to prevent future attacks and strengthen security in vulnerable areas.
