FIR Registered at CTD Kohat Over Hangu Check Post Terror Attack

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Kohat has formally registered a case regarding the armed attack on the Khazeena Banda Check Post in Hangu, initiating a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

The case has been registered on the complaint of the Station House Officer (SHO) CTD Kohat, with multiple provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and 16 other relevant sections included in the First Information Report (FIR).

According to the FIR, armed attackers targeted the Khazeena Banda Check Post using heavy and automatic weapons. The attackers reportedly launched the assault with a drone strike on a police post established at the Government School Khazeena, resulting in injuries to two police personnel.

The FIR further states that a police contingent, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), was dispatched towards the area following the attack. During movement, the police team was reportedly targeted by the attackers through drone strikes and heavy weapons fire.

As a result of the assault, official vehicles and an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) sustained damage. The attackers also reportedly took police weapons during the attack before fleeing the area.

Following the incident, security and law enforcement agencies launched search and clearance operations in the surrounding areas to trace the attackers, secure the region, and prevent any further hostile activity. CTD Kohat has commenced further investigation to identify the perpetrators, their facilitators, and the network involved in the attack.

According to police officials, the attack resulted in the martyrdom of 11 police personnel, while 28 others were injured during the assault.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to bringing those responsible for the attack to justice and dismantling networks involved in terrorism. Law enforcement agencies continue to undertake intelligence-based operations and security measures to safeguard public safety and maintain peace in the region.

The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security institutions in countering sophisticated attacks, while reaffirming the resolve of law enforcement agencies to confront terrorism with determination and professionalism.
