Security forces eliminated a local commander of Fitna al-Khwarij, affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), during a successful intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, marking another significant blow to the terrorist group’s operational network along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to security sources, the operation was launched after forces received credible intelligence regarding the presence of the local terrorist commander, identified as Abu Dujana, in Bajaur’s Mamund area. Acting swiftly on the information, security personnel moved to the suspected location and established a cordon to prevent the terrorist’s escape.
As troops tightened the perimeter, the terrorist commander opened indiscriminate fire in an attempt to break the siege. Security forces responded effectively, and after a brief but intense exchange of fire, Abu Dujana was eliminated.
The body of the terrorist commander was taken into custody, while security forces immediately launched a search and clearance operation across the surrounding area to eliminate any remaining threats, locate possible accomplices, and ensure that no other terrorists managed to flee the scene.
Officials said the operation forms part of the ongoing intelligence-driven campaign aimed at dismantling Fitna al-Khwarij’s infrastructure, disrupting its command-and-control network, and preventing terrorist attacks before they can be carried out. Weapons, communication devices, and other evidence are also expected to be examined to identify facilitators and uncover additional terrorist hideouts.
Security analysts described the elimination of Abu Dujana as a major operational success, noting that local commanders play a critical role in recruiting terrorists, coordinating cross-border movement, arranging logistics, and planning attacks against security forces and civilians. His elimination is expected to significantly weaken the terrorist group’s operational capabilities in Bajaur, a strategically important district bordering Afghanistan.
The latest operation comes amid an intensified counterterrorism campaign across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces continue to conduct intelligence-based operations against Fitna al-Khwarij. Officials have reiterated that whether in Bajaur, elsewhere in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, or any other part of Pakistan, no space will be allowed for terrorist organizations to operate, and operations will continue until every terrorist network is dismantled and the country’s territory is cleared of the menace of terrorism.
