Pakistan Army on Wednesday said the recent wave of terrorism in Balochistan was aimed at undermining the province’s development and prosperity rather than advancing the interests of its people, asserting that the perpetrators had “nothing to do with Balochistan” and would not be allowed to derail the country’s progress.
Speaking during a press conference on the security situation in Balochistan, the military’s spokesperson said the latest attacks were not isolated acts of violence but part of a broader campaign to obstruct economic development, create instability and spread fear among the local population.
Referring to the group described by Pakistan as Fitna al-Hindustan, the military spokesperson maintained that the organization neither represented the people of Balochistan nor their aspirations. Instead, he said, its actions consistently targeted projects and initiatives intended to improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
“The terrorists have a problem with everything that is meant for the people of Balochistan,” he said, adding that roads, public infrastructure, development schemes and other welfare initiatives had repeatedly become targets because the perpetrators feared a peaceful and prosperous province.
He said Balochistan’s development was inseparable from Pakistan’s national progress, stressing that prosperity in the country’s largest province would strengthen the federation as a whole.
“Balochistan’s development is Pakistan’s development,” he said.
The military spokesperson accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Balochistan, alleging that external actors were exploiting violence to prevent the province from achieving long-term economic stability. He reiterated Pakistan’s position that the terrorist network referred to as Fitna al-Hindustan had no connection with Baloch identity, culture or traditions.
According to the military, the objective of terrorist groups is to discourage investment, disrupt public confidence and create the perception of instability in a province that has witnessed significant infrastructure and connectivity projects in recent years.
Despite the latest attacks, Pakistan remains determined to continue its development agenda in Balochistan, the spokesperson said, adding that terrorism would not be allowed to dictate the province’s future.
“No force can change the reality of Balochistan’s prosperity,” he said.
He argued that the repeated targeting of civilians, police personnel and public infrastructure demonstrated that terrorist organizations were not fighting for the rights of the people but were instead attacking the very communities they claimed to represent.
The spokesperson said innocent citizens had once again borne the brunt of the recent violence, but praised the resilience of Balochistan’s people, describing them as partners in the state’s fight against terrorism.
He also commended the province’s police and security forces for confronting the attackers despite difficult circumstances, saying their sacrifices reflected the determination of the people of Balochistan to reject terrorism.
The military spokesperson maintained that the state’s resolve to secure the province remained unwavering and that operations against terrorist groups would continue alongside efforts to accelerate development and improve the lives of local communities.
He said Pakistan would not allow violence to halt projects aimed at bringing prosperity, employment and better public services to the province.
“Balochistan is Pakistan’s life and honor,” he said, adding that the country’s future was closely tied to the province’s stability and development.
Concluding his remarks, the military spokesperson said the state would continue protecting both the security and the economic future of Balochistan, expressing confidence that terrorism would ultimately fail to obstruct the province’s progress or Pakistan’s national development.
