10 July Deadline: What Changes for Undocumented Afghan Nationals in Pakistan?

The Government of Pakistan, through the Ministry of Interior, has announced a comprehensive nationwide enforcement drive against foreign nationals residing in the country without valid legal documentation or authorized visas.

According to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, all Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan without lawful documentation or valid visas will be subject to immediate legal action, including arrest, after the deadline of 10 July 2026.

The directive has been issued as part of the government’s continued efforts to regulate the presence of undocumented foreign nationals, strengthen border and internal security mechanisms, and ensure compliance with Pakistan’s immigration laws.

Under the issued instructions, the Chief Secretaries and Inspectors General of Police of all four provinces, along with the Islamabad administration, have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan (IFRP).

The relevant authorities have been tasked with identifying undocumented foreign nationals, initiating necessary legal procedures, and ensuring effective implementation of the repatriation framework in accordance with government policy.

The Ministry of Interior has further directed that from 11 July 2026 onwards, daily reports regarding arrests, enforcement actions, and progress under the plan must be submitted to the Ministry on a regular basis.

The government has declared the implementation of this initiative as a top priority, emphasizing that all concerned institutions must ensure coordinated action and timely compliance with the issued directives. Pakistan has consistently maintained that immigration management, border security, and the regulation of foreign nationals are essential elements for maintaining national security, public order, and stability.

All relevant departments and law enforcement agencies remain committed to carrying out the directives effectively while ensuring that enforcement measures are implemented through established legal procedures.

The Government of Pakistan reiterates its resolve to safeguard national interests, strengthen internal security, and ensure effective management of foreign nationals residing within the country.
