Armed Fitna al-Khawarij Using Mosque as Hideout in North Waziristan’s Palangzai

In the Palangzai area near Miranshah, disturbing reports have emerged that Fitna al-Khawarij elements are freely utilizing local facilities, including mosques and other residential spaces, reportedly with the facilitation of certain local elements.

A recently surfaced video from Palangzai allegedly shows individuals associated with Fitna al-Khawarij operating within a mosque, using the premises for their activities. The footage indicates the presence of armed individuals inside the mosque, raising serious concerns over the misuse of a sacred place of worship for unlawful and militant-related purposes.

The reported exploitation of mosques, madrassas, and village structures for such activities is widely viewed as a violation of law and order, as well as a serious breach of social and religious sanctity. Places of worship are meant to serve as centers of peace, prayer, and community unity, and their alleged misuse for armed or extremist purposes undermines their fundamental purpose.

It has further been emphasized that any form of silence or facilitation by local elements in connection with such activities places the safety, stability, and future of the entire community at risk. The presence of Fitna al-Khawarij in residential or religious spaces not only threatens peace in the region but also endangers the broader social fabric.

Authorities have reiterated that counterterrorism efforts require not only operational action but also active public cooperation. The role of local communities in providing timely and credible information is considered essential in preventing misuse of public and religious spaces.

Residents of the area have been urged to immediately report any suspicious movement or presence of such elements to security forces. Collective responsibility and public awareness are viewed as key components in the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and counter extremist threats.

Officials continue to stress that combating such threats is a shared duty, requiring unity between security institutions and the public to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
