A Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) official and a young man lost their lives in two separate firing incidents in Turbat, triggering heightened concern among residents and prompting law enforcement agencies to launch comprehensive investigations into both cases.
According to police and official sources, armed assailants targeted CTD official Shabbir Ahmed Askani in a suspected targeted killing near Naveed Service in the Dashti Bazar area of Turbat.
Station House Officer (SHO) Mohsin Ali Baloch stated that the attackers opened fire while the CTD official was standing at a motorcycle repair shop. As a result of the attack, Shabbir Ahmed Askani sustained critical gunshot wounds and died on the spot before medical assistance could be provided.
Immediately following the incident, police personnel and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the crime scene, cordoned off the surrounding area, and initiated evidence collection procedures to identify and trace those responsible for the attack.
The body of the deceased official was shifted to Teaching Hospital Turbat for medico-legal formalities and further examination. Authorities confirmed that investigations into the targeted killing are under way, while security agencies are examining all possible motives and operational aspects related to the incident.
Officials described the killing as a serious act aimed at undermining law enforcement efforts in the region and reiterated that those involved would be brought to justice through coordinated investigative operations.
In a separate incident reported late Monday night, a young man identified as Zaheer, son of Saeedullah, was shot dead inside a vehicle in the Shahi Tump area of Turbat.
According to police officials, the incident took place near the Shahi Tump Zong Ground around midnight when a suspect identified as Sarfaraz allegedly opened fire on his friend inside a car following circumstances that remain unclear at this stage of the investigation.
Police said the suspect managed to flee the scene immediately after the shooting, while local authorities launched a search operation to apprehend the accused.
The victim sustained fatal injuries and was transported to Teaching Hospital Turbat for post-mortem examination before the body was handed over to the family for burial in accordance with legal procedures.
Law enforcement officials stated that the motive behind the killing has not yet been determined, adding that investigators are gathering statements and evidence to establish the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting.
The twin incidents have raised concerns regarding the security situation in parts of Turbat, prompting authorities to intensify vigilance and investigative efforts in affected areas.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and assured the public that all available resources are being utilized to arrest those involved and ensure accountability under the law.
