Bannu: Fierce Gunfight in Feroz Fatehkhel Leaves Two Khawarij Dead

 A police encounter in the Feroz Fatehkhel area, within the jurisdiction of Mandan Police Station, Bannu, resulted in the killing of two Khawarij during an exchange of fire, according to police officials.

The encounter took place when police personnel engaged the Khawarij in the area. During the ensuing exchange of fire, two Khawarij were killed. The deceased have been identified as Sher Ayaz Khan and Adnan. Following the encounter, police secured the area and recovered the bodies of the two Khawarij. The identities of the deceased were confirmed as part of the initial legal and investigative procedures.

The bodies were subsequently shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Bannu, for post-mortem examinations and completion of the necessary legal formalities. The post-mortem examinations will form part of the official investigation into the incident, while relevant forensic and procedural measures are being undertaken in accordance with the law.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has initiated a detailed investigation into the encounter. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the identities and backgrounds of the deceased, their activities, affiliations and any available evidence recovered from or linked to the scene.

The investigation will also seek to establish whether the two Khawarij were connected to any broader network operating in the area and whether they were involved in any previous incidents or cases under investigation.

The incident highlights the continuing security challenges faced by law-enforcement agencies in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police and counter-terrorism authorities remain engaged in intelligence gathering, targeted operations and investigations aimed at disrupting Khawarij networks and preventing attacks against security personnel and civilians.

Following the encounter, security personnel maintained vigilance in the surrounding area and undertook necessary security and clearance measures.
