Pakistani security forces successfully foiled a cross-border infiltration attempt by Khawarij linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the Shawal area of North Waziristan along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, according to security sources.
The operation was conducted following credible intelligence regarding the movement of armed Khawarij attempting to infiltrate into Pakistani territory from across the border. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, security forces launched a well-coordinated Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in the rugged mountainous terrain of Shawal, a region historically exploited by hostile elements due to its difficult geography.
During the ensuing engagement, six heavily armed TTP Khawarij, reportedly of Afghan linkage, were successfully neutralised. Security officials stated that the Khawarij attempted to resist advancing troops; however, the forces responded effectively, resulting in the elimination of all six individuals involved in the infiltration bid.
Security sources further clarified that propaganda being circulated on certain hostile social media platforms regarding alleged casualties among Pakistani soldiers is entirely false, baseless, and part of a deliberate disinformation campaign aimed at undermining the morale of the security forces and creating confusion among the public.
Following the successful operation, the entire area has been fully cordoned off, while comprehensive clearance and sanitisation operations are continuing to ensure that no remaining Khawarij elements are hiding in the vicinity. Additional surveillance and border security measures have also been reinforced to prevent any further infiltration attempts.
Security officials reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism and extremist violence in all its forms and manifestations. They emphasised that attempts by Khawarij organisations to destabilise the country through cross-border infiltration and attacks would continue to be dealt with firmly and decisively.
The latest operation reflects the heightened vigilance and operational readiness of Pakistan’s security forces amid ongoing efforts to secure the western border and maintain peace and stability in the tribal districts.
