Security forces carried out a successful intelligence-based operation in the Gharah Aslam area of Kulachi tehsil in district Dera Ismail Khan, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khwarij, according to security sources.

The operation was launched after intelligence agencies received reports regarding the presence and movement of terrorists in the area. Security personnel cordoned off suspected hideouts before engaging the terrorists in a targeted operation.

Following an exchange of fire, two terrorists were neutralized and the area was subsequently cleared through a search operation to ensure the presence of no additional terrorist elements or facilitators.

Sources said the operation was part of continuing efforts aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure and sleeper networks operating in southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in regions bordering tribal belts that have witnessed a renewed spike in terrorist activity in recent months.

The latest operation comes amid heightened security concerns across the province following a series of deadly terrorist attacks targeting police and security personnel.

Earlier in Bannu’s Fateh Khel area, security forces had eliminated five terrorists during another operation linked to intelligence-based targeting of terrorist hideouts.

The Fateh Khel region recently came under national focus after a devastating suicide attack on a security check post last week in which at least 15 police personnel were martyred. The assault, carried out using an explosives-laden vehicle, was among the deadliest recent attacks in the region and reignited concerns over terrorist facilitation networks and cross-district operational coordination by extremist groups.
