A coordinated joint operation is currently underway in Damaan Khel, Thore Valley, Chilas, against an entrenched political-terrorist-criminal network involved in militancy, narcotics cultivation, and organized criminal activities in the region.
The operation is being conducted through close coordination between the Pakistan Army, Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts (GB Scouts), and Gilgit-Baltistan Police, reflecting the state’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism, dismantle criminal safe havens, and restore lasting peace and stability in the area.
According to official sources, security forces have so far eliminated three terrorists during the ongoing operation. The operation has also led to significant progress against the narcotics infrastructure supporting criminal and militant elements operating in the region.
As part of the crackdown, more than 17 kanals of illegally cultivated poppy land have been cleared and destroyed. Authorities stated that the eradication of narcotics cultivation is a critical component of the broader strategy to disrupt the financial networks that sustain terrorism and organized crime.
In addition, multiple terrorist hideouts and criminal shelters identified during the operation have been demolished and set ablaze to prevent their future use by anti-state elements.
Security officials noted that the targeted network had been involved in activities aimed at undermining peace, intimidating local populations, facilitating illegal trade, and supporting militant operations in remote areas of Thore Valley and surrounding localities.
The ongoing operation demonstrates the commitment of state institutions to ensuring the writ of the government, safeguarding local communities, and protecting the region from the threats posed by terrorism, narcotics trafficking, and organized criminal syndicates.
Officials further emphasized that intelligence-based operations will continue until the complete elimination of all terrorist and criminal elements from the area.
