The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Mardan has registered a First Information Report (FIR) over the killing of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) leader Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idris.
The FIR was lodged at CTD Police Station Mardan on the complaint of injured police constable Sher Alam. Unknown assailants have been nominated in the case, and provisions of murder along with terrorism charges have been included.
According to the FIR, Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idris was travelling in a vehicle accompanied by two police personnel and a driver when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on the vehicle from behind and fled the scene after the attack.
The attack resulted in the death of Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idris, while two police personnel assigned to his security were injured.
Both injured officials were shifted for medical treatment.
Earlier, ISIS-K had claimed responsibility for the targeted killing of Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idris.
